Literature Text

Oh.
You’re gonna hang out with them?
That’s okay.
No, it’s fine—I think I have something to do, anyway.

Oh, you’re hanging out with them again?
But—I was thinking maybe we could do something. . .
No, never mind. It’s fine.
You guys have fun.

Oh.
Yeah, they sound great.
Hey, maybe we could talk about something else?
Oh.
Yeah, I think they’d like that.

Oh.
You talk about them the way you used to talk about me.
We used to do the same things you do with them.
But now, we don’t do anything.
But now, the only thing you talk about is them.
But now, I’m not welcome.

Oh.
I see.
I’ve been replaced. . .

---

How lonely it is,
To be replaced.
Whether it be a friend,
Lover,
Or anything else.

It leaves you feeling empty,
Hollow,
Small,
Cheap,
Of little value.

How lonely it is,
To feel so un-extraordinary,
To feel so un-unique,
To feel so un-special,
Because someone is willing to throw you away,
To be with someone else.

How lonely it is.
But I can assure you,
That you’re not the only one.

For everyone who has ever been replaced at some point in their life. Trust me, you're not alone. It's okay.
