“Um, _____, what are we doing at the pier in the middle of winter?”
_____ smiled knowingly as she guided Gilbert by the hand. Her eyes glanced briefly at both her watch and the sun descending toward the horizon, and she grinned at the accuracy of her timing. “You’ll see.”
The pair trekked down the shoreline of the lake, the frosted grass crunching underneath their shoes, until _____ gradually came to a halt. Gilbert looked at her skeptically and asked, “Alright, what’s this about?”
_____ didn’t answer, but instead dove her hand into her bag and extracted a black glasses case. Holding the object out for him, she said, “Happy birthday.”
Gilbert raised an eyebrow, but took the case nonetheless. “Okay,” he said, his voice laced with a hint of confusion. “Danke.”
The albino opened the case to find a pair of black thin-rimmed sunglasses, which he proceeded to put over his face. Not seconds after putting them on, he slid them off, muttering, “Was zum Teufel?” He tried them on again and turned his head to look in various directions. “What the hell?” he repeated in English, alternating between seeing with the glasses and without. “What are these?”
_____’s smile grew. “They’re from a company called Enchroma. They’re prescription glasses that help colorblind people see color.”
“Wha—” Gilbert replaced the glasses over his eyes. “How did you—How did they get them to fit me? I don’t need glasses.”
_____ chuckled nervously. “Well, remember those color charts I made you look at the other month?”
“You said that was just to check my sight!” he protested.
“I know! Sorry.” She shrugged apologetically. “I just wanted it to be a surprise.”
“Heh, you kept it a surprise, alright,” he remarked, turning to look out past the lake. The sun had just begun to fall behind the horizon, leaving behind warm shades of pink and orange. “Mein Gott, is this what you see every day?”
_____ didn’t answer, deciding rather to start digging through her bag for the items she had packed exclusively for this moment. The first item she found was a stack of neon pink Post-It notes. “Look at these.”
Gilbert turned his head to look at the notes, then jumped back slightly. “The hell? Those are bright.”
_____ giggled and handed him the Post-Its. “I brought a whole bunch of stuff for you to look at.” She pulled a multicolored beanie and a black, red, and yellow scarf out of her bag. “Here.”
Gilbert dropped the stack of Post-It notes and immediately turned his attention to the hat and scarf. The bright yellow of the scarf and rich purple on the beanie were the first colors to catch his eye. “Mein Gott,” he murmured, then pointed to a spot on the beanie. “Is this purple?”
With a wide smile, _____ nodded. “Yes, it is.”
An excited, breathless laugh escaped the man’s lips as he stared at the various colors. “Gott, _____,” he said, choking up slightly. “This is amazing.”
“I thought you’d like it.”
The couple stayed on the shore of the lake, the fiancé eyeing everything he could in pure fascination and the fiancée smiling at his unvarnished joy. Gilbert sat on the frosty grass and watched the sun disappear behind the horizon, never once taking his eyes away from the sight. He wanted to remember this moment, this moment of watching a sunset through new eyes with his beloved by his side.
Not minutes after the sun was gone, Gilbert heard _____ giggle beside him. “What?” he asked curiously.
“I just thought of something,” she replied, a knowing grin on her lips. “If this is how you react to a sunset, just wait until you see a rainbow.”

CanadaxReader: Colorful~Colors Know No Bounds~
You sniffed. Matthew sneezed. You were running out of tissues, but at least Matthew brought about seven tissue-boxes worth of the life-saving disposable white squares (or maybe they're rectangles).
What a horrible time to catch a cold. It was worse that somewhere along the way, Matthew caught your sickness, and both of you hadn't recovered by the time you reached your final destination of your tour of Canada with Matthew: Butchart Gardens.
Your Canadian friend, Matthew Williams, had planned the trip out just right so by the time you arrived at Vancouver Island in mid-July, all of the flowers w

[England x Reader]
One shot...
The violent wind slashes my face mercilessly, attacking the many cuts and bruises on my aching and shivering body. The rain pelts down on me and the black night offers me no hope as I force myself to run... Just run.
A fist crashes down and collides with my face, throwing me across the room and hit the concrete wall with a loud thud. I bit my bleeding lip, refusing to cry as my father approaches me with his fist raised and beer in the other hand. Mother latches onto his shirt begging and pleading to not hurt me, that earn her a punch in the face and she falls to the floor. I shake in fe

Prussia xReader (The Prussian Proposal)
'Vell, here's a place I never thought I'd be.' Prussia thought to himself.
He stared down the daunting, brightly lit sign that had been on commercials for a long time now...the one with that cheesy saying, 'Every kiss begins with K~' .
And he'd be damned if he couldn't find a ring as awesome as him...or you at the very least.
Prussia swallowed a thick lump in his throat, finding himself unable to move his legs. Suddenly, a hand clapped onto his back, startling him to say the least.
He spun around, intending to give a sound thrashing to whomever had hit the awesomeness that was Prussia, only to find a young man giving him a sheepish smi

This is a better reaction than I had to getting seeing glasses, but I did the same thing of taking them off then putting them back on to see stuff.
